Description of Post:

Part of the wider R&D Team, as an Automation Engineer you will be responsible for the planning, designing, building and executing manual and automated test solutions based on software requirements. Working to Agile Methodology and principles, you are responsible for detecting, reporting and tracking software defects through to resolution.

Responsible for:

  • Planning, building and executing scalable robust automation framework for all development projects
  • Reviewing test plans, defects and test results with a view to continually improving the testing process and the quality of software product
  • Communicating test progress, results and providing constructive feedback at appropriate Agile ceremonies

Primary Objectives:

  • Devise, design, build and execute test solutions based on Acceptance Criteria in User Story and provide time estimation for testing activities on desktop and web applications
  • Ensure the quality of new software features and releases by creating and maintaining test scripts/code written to agreed standard
  • Record unexpected results from testing and feedback into the Sprint meetings and share findings with the wider R&D team
  • Propose, develop and review test documentation to improve testing function and practices
  • Liaise with the Testing Team Leader to develop and maintain automation test strategies
  • Dissemination of good practice, software testing knowledge and product knowledge to all teams in the business
  • Proactive management of workload and participation at Agile ceremonies

Skills and Experience:

  • Manual and automated testing of desktop and web applications
  • An understanding of all types of functional and non-functional testing, test automation frameworks and experience working in one or more programming languages (C# preferred)
  • Experience in test automation and CI/CD
  • Knowledge of security (OWASP) and accessibility (WCAG) standards
  • Understanding of User stories, personas and example mapping
  • Strong knowledge of C#, SQL
  • Proficient use of Selenium WebDriver, Ranorex and GIT
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with thorough attention to detail whilst maintaining awareness of the bigger picture
  • Working in an Agile Scrum environment
  • ISTQB Certification (preferred not essential)
