The Great January Training Week

Each January, as the whole team arrive back in the office filled with enthusiasm for the coming year (and mince pies and fizz), we use the first week back as a company wide training and development week to update and refresh our knowledge of our products, our clients and our markets.

Over the course of the week there are sessions on everything from Iken Basic Training refreshers to the Vision and Values of Iken as a company as well as detailed modular training and strategic goals workshops. Having this variety of sessions keeps us all on our toes and ensures the week doesn’t become a ‘back to work snooze’ as is always a danger when training for long periods of time.

We encourage colleagues to attend sessions where they can upskill in a peer to peer environment, as well as sessions that are not in their usual area of work. This aims to give a greater understanding of the business as a whole – but also to encourage input and ideas to flow freely, giving us the best possible opportunity for continuous improvement and company wide involvement.

The week is always a great success: team members are more confident engaging with new areas of our business and our software, as well as being better equipped to assist our clients in new areas. Ongoing pesonal and professional development is key to Iken's core values and the investment of time at the start of the year really does pay off. This year was bigger and better than ever before and we are already using our new skills and improved knowledge!
